My Dad was an incredible woodworker who started in my parents first apartment and slowly built up in basement shops. If you think of the limited resources he had (e.g., no internet) and that he was raised in a tiny apartment it’s amazing what he was able to do.
I had tons of resources and got to start off with the tools he had accumulated over 30 years. Thirty years later I still have many of his hand tools, including a Craftsman circular saw that must weigh 50 pounds. I’ve more or less destroyed all the larger tools he had via incompetence and have collected my own. When we moved to Duckweed I even got to design my own shop and buy more tools.
